Divella Delights

I began my career in the arts while living in Hawaii in 1985. I started with Sumi-e, also known as Chinese Brushstroke under the direction of Claudia Suen. My Sumi-e paintings are included in private collections in several countries. I have taught Sumi and Gyotaku in Hawaii and Oregon in the public school system, in galleries and as a volunteer in teen centers. I went on to study, pastels, pen and ink, and fiber arts before finding my true passion in beaded jewelry design. In my unique designs you will find high quality beads, a variety of gemstones, Swarovski Crystals, silver and gold. I also incorporate local original artisan lampwork beads into some of my designs.
I occasionally take out the paints and brushes but more often is found in my home studio in Waterville, Maine creating beautiful one of a kind gemstone jewelry. All of the materials used in my designs are of high quality and the gems are hand selected for each piece. I use only Sterling Silver or 14k Gold Filled wire unless otherwisw noted.

A note about gold filled wire

Gold filled wire is very different from "gold plated". 14KT gold-filled wire has 100 times more 14KT gold in it than plated gold. 14KT Gold Filled wire is created by bonding a sheet of 14KT gold to a core of brass with extreme heat and pressure. The end result is a 14KT gold tube totally encasing the brass core. This gives us a lovely strong wire that never tarnishes. The gold surface never wears off like gold plate does. It is a piece of jewelry created for a lifetime.
